Sights of Armenia

Here are some of the sights of Armenia. We draw up a complete route with a selection of interesting places individually.

Yerevan city

The city occupies the southern part of Armenia in a picturesque place on the banks of the Arkas River. Geographically, it is the center of the Armenian Highlands. The capital is protected on three sides by mountains, which affects the weather conditions. Many historical publications date the foundation of the city to the 8th century BC. It is not easy to check this today, but the very fact of finding the ruins of an ancient city in Erebuni does not allow this version to be discounted. And, by the way, the day when Noah's Ark arrived at the Ararat mountains is considered the foundation of the city.

Lake Sevan

It is considered the largest in the Caucasus, and not only. Sevan is today recognized as the largest of the high-water lakes. But not only this fact is interesting to tourists, the medieval monastery of Sevanavank, preserved here, attracts much more attention. Today, this historical monument can be explored in small buildings that have survived to this day. All of them are dated to the XNUMXth century.

You will be surprised, but Sevan is also the main source of fish catch in the republic. It is here that trout, pike perch and other fish species are found, which provide the domestic market. And it would not be surprising if the lake itself was not part of the protected area.

Tsakhkadzor

The winter recreation center is located on the picturesque slopes of Teghenis, the maximum point is 2819 m. Talking about scenic views, speaking about Armenia, is superfluous, all conditions for a comfortable rest are simply created here. Don't know how to ski or have never held a snowboard in your hands? Here you will be helped in everything! These are not even European ski schools, no! Here is a completely different attitude towards guests. This is incomparable.

Garni pagan temple

Garni Temple is the only pagan temple that has survived to our time. It is called a masterpiece of architecture. For many, it is a symbol of the former might of pre-Christian Armenia.

According to unverified data, it was built in 77 BC. The Armenian kings fell in love with this place not only because of its inaccessibility, but also because of the unique climatic conditions.

The structure of the temple consists of blocks of smooth-cut basalt. But its peculiarity is the original ornaments. Here are amazing variations of acanthus leaf with true Armenian motives.

Armenian cuisine - forget everything you've heard before

Armenian cuisine is primarily a tribute to traditions. Their roots go back to antiquity, which is why we do not get tired of admiring the meat and flour dishes of the Armenian cuisine. We tried to look into the depths of history, and surprisingly, there are no secrets of magic or magic, everything is based only on whipping products and stuffing. In this case, the semi-finished product can be fried, cooked, baked - that's the whole secret. But even understanding it, few people manage to repeat this magic.

Do you want to experience Armenian cuisine? Try Horovac

A classic dish of Armenian cuisine. For us, the name barbecue is more familiar. But the difference in cooking meat is that it is marinated in cognac and should be cut into large pieces.

Do you like flour products? Try Nazuk

Delicate yeast buns with original filling. Nazuk is a classic Armenian dough dish. It is often found on sale on the street, in fast food cafes. Its peculiarity is that there can be completely different fillings - cinnamon, nuts, honey, etc.

Visit Armenia and not try wine?

The locals will definitely not understand you, because they have a completely different perception of the production of wine and the culture of drinking it. Armenian wine Artsruni, royal pomegranate, red semi-sweet, Aygeshat, Echmiadzin, Zorah Karasi, Arame, Yerevan Kangun are just some of the fruits of the creativity of Armenian winemakers. Taste, evaluate, enjoy!
